50th Anniversary of the Ted Blum 4-H Center of Somerset County

50th Anniversary of the Ted Blum 4-H Center of Somerset County The Somerset County 4-H Association is inviting 4-H members and volunteers past and present to attend a 50th anniversary celebration of the Ted Blum 4-H Center of Somerset County on Sunday, June 9, noon to 4 p.m. The event will honor those who helped to make the 4-H Center at 310 Milltown Road in Bridgewater a reality. A “Walk Down Memory Lane” program will be presented at 1 p.m. followed by a commemorative group photo of all attendees. At the time it opened in 1974, Somerset County’s 4-H Center was touted as the largest building of its kind in the nation. The Center houses meeting and activity areas for 4-H, along with offices for 4-H staff and the other county program areas of Rutgers Cooperative Extension. Groundbreaking took place in late 1972 and the building was completed in 1974. In 2004, the Center was renamed the Ted Blum 4-H Center of Somerset County to honor the longtime 4-H agent and National 4-H Hall of Fame inductee who was instrumental in the establishment of the current building and fairgrounds.
