This early exposure, more than twenty years ago, helped me see wool, and other soft materials, as a medium for rigorous artistic exploration. The submissions for this exhibition presented many wonderful uses of felt. The first time through the entries I looked at everything and then took a long break—returning the next day. At that point, I selected the work that had stayed with me from the previous day. The next review was more difficult. I had to eliminate several really good works
Misogyny Papers/Apology: Victor Davson
NJ, United States“My sensibility as an artist is shaped by my early childhood in Guyana and by the anti-colonial struggle for independence in the 1960s….Misogyny Papers/Apology draws on this spirit of resistance and on a wellspring of socially engaged art. It is my attempt to bring into relief the issues of gender bias, political violence and discrimination against women. In creating a body of work that confronts the dehumanization of women I also confront a system that dehumanizes me as a man who is Black.” — Victor Davson Click Here to Read Victor Davson’s Complete Artist Statement Victor Davson has exhibited widely throughout the northeast United States and in Great Britain, France, the Dominican Republic and Cuba. His work is in the permanent collections of the National Museum of Fine Arts, Havana, Cuba, National Collection of Fine Arts, Guyana, Newark Museum of Art, Montclair Art Museum, New Jersey State Museum, Jane Voorhees Zimmerli Art Museum, and Morris Museum. Fall Harvest Days
NJ, United StatesNorz Hill Farm has been in our family since 1922 when Hillsborough was very rural and all of our neighbors were farmers. Today most all of you, our neighbors from near and far, are generations removed from farm families so it is very important to us to be able to provide an educational, breathtaking and fun experience while visiting our Farm. Farm Tours The tour takes you on a hay wagon ride from our farm stand area to the farm, then you can get off and see all the animals. Some of the animals you will find are cows, miniature donkeys (yep, we have a Dominick the donkey!), horses, alpaca, sheep, chickens, goats, pigs, bunnies, emu's and even a zonkey. Then when you have had a chance to see all the animals, you can catch the next hayride right to our pumpkin patch. The Corn Maze Each and every year we dedicate our corn maze to either events that happen on our farm or a great local cause. SO while you are here you can be challenged to find your way through our 5 acres of farm fun! Kids' Corner & Fun Things Our Kids Croner is a fun area
