  • Lord Stirling Park Birdwalk

    Environmental Education Center 190 Lord Stirling Road, Basking Ridge, NJ, United States

    Led by Dave Oster, Associate Naturalist The Lord Stirling Park bird walks have had up to 70 species and 13 warbler species in one day. This is a great spot for flycatchers, vireos, warblers, and goodies like Great-horned Owl, Red-headed Woodpecker, Alder Flycatcher, Marsh Wren, and in some years Prothonotary Warbler. We will also spend some time at the East Observation Deck, which overlooks the adjacent Great Swamp marshes. Trails are level but may be wet depending on recent rain. Please bring your own binoculars or spotting scope if desired. There will be no equipment available to borrow. Registration required. Walk-ins will not be permitted to participate.     Strawberry U-Pick opening weekend is here! May 17th & 18th  Hours are 9am – 4pm (Last car in at 3:30) Come out and pick the freshest strawberries you can buy. Grab a bite to eat and some delicious drinks at Snyder’s concessions. Bring the kids for a day filled with fun. Our kids activity area will be open! Strawberry U-pick is dependent on weather, so please check our phone message, social media or website for any updates on closures or delays in opening due to weather.

You get the coffee, the goats will get the feed~ A cup of feed comes with your entry into the goat area. Preference goes to online ticket sales.     Walk an Alpaca - Saturday Mornings PLEASE READ CAREFULLY!!! NON REFUNDABLE!!!!! NON CHANGEABLE!!!! Alpaca Halter Training (Walking): Walk one of our beautiful, friendly Alpacas around our property. Enjoy their wonderful personalities and cuteness overload. You will be instructed on how to handle your alpaca and we will give you a little bit of information on our Alpacas. 1 reservation is 1 Alpaca and 1 Person. Children under the age of 9 cannot walk by themselves. Your walk will last around 15 minutes. Feel free to take lots of pictures with your alpaca and if you need assistance doing so, please as one of our Volunteers for help. This is a rain/snow or shine unless torrential rain then we will postpone. PLEASE BE ONTIME! IF YOU ARE MORE THAN 5 MINUTES LATE FOR YOUR SCHEDULED WALK, YOUR WALK WILL BE CANCELLED!!!!! Our helpers are all volunteers, so tipping is appreciated.
