Mark your calendars for an exciting evening of exploration into the unique and rare plant life of the Sourland region. Jared Rosenbaum, co-owner of Wild Ridge Plants, and author of the book, “Wild Plant Culture” will be giving an engaging talk titled "Rare Plants in the Sourlands" on Thursday, January 9, 2025, from 7:00 to 8:30 PM at the Montgomery Township Municipal Building, located at 100 Community Drive, Skillman, NJ 08558. Jared Rosenbaum is a botanist, ecological restoration practitioner, and co-owner of Wild Ridge Plants, a nursery that specializes in native plants and seeds. He is the author of two books on native plants, including Wild Plant Culture: A Guide to Restoring Edible and Medicinal Native Plant Communities, and the children's book The Puddle Garden. He is a Certified Ecological Restoration Practitioner by the Society for Ecological Restoration. He is a passionate advocate for native plant species and an expert on the ecology and conservation of the Sourlands region. In this talk, Jared will share his deep knowledge of the rare and endangered plants that thrive in the Sourlands, a unique ecological area in central New Jersey. Angela Pilgrim & Barbara Wallace Solo Exhibitions at The Center for Contemporary Art The Center for Contemporary Art is pleased to present two fall solo exhibitions on view September 27 through December 8. Angela Pilgrim: New Growth presents the work of Angela Pilgrim whose studio is in Newark, New Jersey. She explains, “My work explores the Black female gaze through figurative imagery of the body. Utilizing portraiture, printmaking, pattern making and mixed media.” Barbara Wallace: Sculpture showcases the work of sculptor Barbara Wallace, who resides in Elizabeth, New Jersey. Wallace is a sculptor known for her figurative art works and innovative use of recycled materials. When discussing her work, she explains, “Shape, form and structure are essential aspects of my sculptures created with a paper mache technique in recycled paper, cardboard, wire, metal and acrylic paint…. Using up-cycled resources addresses my concerns about climate change and the environment.”
