Moderated by Wes Sherman, visual artist and The Center’s Exhibitions Committee Chair, DeAnn, Peter, and Isabell will share their work, discuss form, content, process, their paths to becoming artists, and accept questions from the audience. Out-of-Doors Evening Redwood Reading Room

This spring as the sun sets join an “out-of-doors” reading room as we read and discuss selected passages from an historic author and connect these works to Wallace House & Old Dutch Parsonage and New Jersey history. No advanced reading or preparation is required. Dress to sit outdoors. 250 years ago in the spring of 1773 Phillis Wheatley traveled from America to England to publish Poems on Various Subjects, Religious and Moral, making her the first published African-American poet and the first African-American female published writer. Friday Night Picnics at Peony's Envy When: On May 12, 19, 26, June 2, 9, 2023 we reopen our Display Gardens for Friday Night Picnics from 5:30-7:30pm, do not arrive or setup early. Please note that there are no picnics at the Display Gardens outside of this time and there are no picnics allowed at the Cut Flower Fields ever. What to Bring: Bring your own picnic and enjoy the bloom! We recommend you bring a picnic blanket and whatever else you need to make yourself comfortable on the lawns. What is in Bloom: You are welcome to walk the gardens and enjoy the bloom. See our Bloom Timeline section for details on what is in bloom. The volume of flowers changes drastically through the season. How Much: Adults $20, children $10. There’s no need to buy a ticket online or make a reservation at this time.
