Reefer Madness
Reefer Madness
Reefer Madness is a musical satire of the 1936 propaganda film and cult classic Reefer Madness that opened in Los Angeles in 1998. The book and lyrics were written by Kevin Murphy and the book and music by Dan Studney. This raucous musical comedy takes a tongue-in-cheek look at the hysteria caused when clean-cut kids fall prey to marijuana, leading them on a hysterical downward spiral filled with evil jazz music, sex, and violence. **THURSDAY, April 20th ONLY - Special Talkback after the show with Writer/Composer, Dan Studney, and the Original Jimmy Harper from LA/Off Broadway/Movie, Christian Campbell**

Brook Orchestra presents Rossini, Suk, and Dvorak
Brook Orchestra presents Rossini, Suk, and Dvorak
Join us for the beautiful sounds of Rossini, Suk, and Dvo?ák played by our very own Brook Orchestra under the Direction of Thomas Vacca. This powerful set will invoke your senses of wonder and awe. Rossini's Overture for William Tell was designed to present the day in the life of a Switzerland in revolt. As the piece accelerates it introduces a determined galloping energy. Suk's Scherzo Fantastique is a relatively short piece that plays many jokes on the listener by misleading the expectations of the form. Dvo?ák's Symphony No. 9 in E minor is nicknamed "from the New World" because Dvorak wrote it during the time he spent in the U.S. in the 1890's. It has been said that Dvo?ák was inspired by the "wide open spaces" of America.

NJ Audubon’s World Series of Birding®
What is the World Series of Birding? It’s a game, it’s a marathon, it’s a challenge, it’s a heck of a lot of fun! Many great birders have raised glasses in this event. The first official World Series of Birding began at midnight on May 19, 1984, when just thirteen teams set out on a 24-hour treasure hunt. Their mission was to tally as many species of birds by sight or sound as possible. Their objective was to raise money for their favorite environmental cause, and to focus worldwide attention upon the habitat needs of migrating birds. They succeeded beyond anyone’s dreams. Today there are thousands of participants, including donors and support team members, in the event and the event has grown into several categories and ways to play. Bird Conservation Challenge- Level I - for adult teams ages 18 and up who compete for awards in several categories NJ Audubon Ambassador Challenge - Level II - for non-competing teams wishing to just have fun and raise funds for NJ Audubon Zeiss Youth Challenge - Level III - for ages 6-18 within their respective school grades. When is it? This year on Saturday, May 13th, 2023 - rain or shine. Mark your calendars and start

Essex Horse Trials
Essex Horse Trials
Essex Horse Trials The Essex Horse Trials, an iconic pre-Olympic-qualifying three-day event held at the United States Equestrian Team (USET) headquarters until 1998, was conceived in the 1960s as a competition for young riders. Until that time, good courses and well-built fences rarely filtered down to the lower competitive levels of the sport. In 1968, thanks to the generous support of Mr. and Mrs. Elliot Haller – and behind the driving force of their son Roger – “Hoopstick Farm” in Bedminster, NJ, became the first home of the Essex Horse Trials. The first event was held in the fall of that year and two levels of competition were offered, Training and Preliminary, in a one-day horse trials format. Throughout the 1970s and 1980s the event continued to grow, attracting both American and international competitors, expanding to a three-day format and eventually moving to the USET headquarters in Gladstone, NJ. The Essex Horse Trials became a major international event with the best-of-the-best competing for U.S. Team positions at both the Olympic Games and World Championships. After a 19-year hiatus (the original event ended in 1998, its 30th anniversary year), the Essex Horse Trials returned to the Eventing calendar in June of

Introduction to Freeform Tapestry Weaving Outdoor Workshop
Introduction to Freeform Tapestry Weaving Outdoor Workshop
Introduction to Freeform Tapestry Weaving Outdoor Workshop Freeform tapestry weaving is an expressive, process-oriented way to explore traditional handweaving techniques to create a piece that is personal and unique. A standing tabletop loom enables us to incorporate a wealth of textures such as fluffy roving, long fleece locks, silk ribbon, cotton punis, and handspun art yarn. We’ll learn how to set up the loom and plan a design. Using various weave structures and knotting methods, we’ll discover how to achieve geometric shapes and contours. At the end of class, everyone will have completed their own sampler tapestry to take home. All equipment, tools, and materials will be provided, and participants are invited to bring any special fibers or yarn they would like to include in their works. No experience necessary. 3-hour class with a 30-minute break for lunch. Class is limited to 12 participants. Class will take place outdoors with social distancing measures in place. About the instructor: Anne Choi is a fiber artist who is committed to supporting local fiber farms and mills. Her classes explore the relationship between craft and imagination. Participants are encouraged to investigate time-honored traditions, infused with contemporary techniques and personal vision. She raises a
