Ukrainian Pysanka (Easter Egg) Workshop

NJ, United States

During the period of Lent preceding Pascha, or Easter, Ukrainians write pysanky, or decorate eggs, using ancient symbols. From the deep past, these patterns were thought to imbue the egg with magical powers and ward away evil spirits, and they later took on Christian meanings. Join us at the Center to continue this age-old tradition as we get ready to welcome spring. The workshop is open to adults and children 12 and older. All materials included. Seating is limited to 15 participants per session, so register early! The UHEC and the Exhibit "Ukraine 1933: A Cookbook" will be open hours indicated.
