Rockingham House – Revolutionary Headquarters (Franklin)
Take a tour of the Rockingham House in Franklin. Rockingham House is where Washington wrote his “Farewell Orders to the Armies of the United States.” This house is fully furnished, and special events take place throughout the year. Family fun park packed with things to do! During the winter months, visitors may enjoy snowshoeing, ice skating, cross-country skiing and more – weather permitting. In the spring the Rose Garden starts to bloom – with over 3,000 roses! The Rose Day Festival always promises a great time in early June with vendors, food, and of course peaceful strolls through the garden. During the summer months, enjoy the putting course and the paddleboats (shaped like ducks!), splash park, and designated picnic areas. The fall months Colonial Park is one of our favorite locations to check out the foliage.
A great place for pick your own experiences! During spring all the way through fall, partake in pick your own experiences including tulips, strawberries, blueberries, aronia, pumpkins, zinnias, sunflowers, and so much more! Sign up for their CSA – or hit their roadside stand on your way home to complement your meals with high quality fresh produce. Their fall festival is always a great time – complete with the above u-pick activities, as well as food trucks, hamster wheels, giant slides, corn maze, and more!
Iron Peak Sports & Events (Hillsborough)
Pickup games, arcades, a ninja course, aerial ropes, and more await you at Iron Peak in Hillsborough! Whether you’re into a competitive sporting match or want to give a new activity a chance, this is a great spot to try out. Their recently opened bar, The Summit, features a biergarten with lots of great local brews and carefully crafted cocktails. Also try their duck pin bowling!
Norz Hill Farm & Market (Hillsborough)
Take a hayride around the farm to check out the many animals including cows, emus, zonkeys, goats, and so many more. During the fall months come back at night for their Scare Fest for heart pounding thrills as you make your way through haunted corn mazes, hayrides, and trails!
Performance Sports Center (Hillsborough)
The space features 3 FIFA grade quality turfed fields as well as a fitness center. Performance Sports Center is a place to enjoy playing or practicing throughout the year without concern for the weather or time of day, helping you improve your game as well as your fitness and health.
Let the little ones get up close with the farm animals at Abma’s Farm including sheep, alpaca, donkeys, pigs, peacocks, emus, ducks, and more! Be on the lookout for their u-pick events, Christmas market, and fall hayrides!
Sourland Mountains (Montgomery, Hillsborough)
More than 3,000 acres of outdoor space in Somerset County. Visitors come to the Sourlands for hiking, mountain biking, birding, snowshoeing, horseback riding, bouldering, and more.
Hidden Spring Lavender & Alpaca Farm (Montgomery)
Beautiful fields of lavender are the perfect backdrop for this alpaca farm in southern Somerset County. Visitors may reserve a time to walk the alpacas around the farm. A perfect activity for year-round – and especially in cooler months! Peak lavender season is typically in June-early July.
