Angela Pilgrim & Barbara Wallace Solo Exhibitions at The Center for Contemporary Art The Center for Contemporary Art is pleased to present two fall solo exhibitions on view September 27 through December 8. Angela Pilgrim: New Growth presents the work of Angela Pilgrim whose studio is in Newark, New Jersey. She explains, “My work explores the Black female gaze through figurative imagery of the body. Utilizing portraiture, printmaking, pattern making and mixed media.” Barbara Wallace: Sculpture showcases the work of sculptor Barbara Wallace, who resides in Elizabeth, New Jersey. Wallace is a sculptor known for her figurative art works and innovative use of recycled materials. When discussing her work, she explains, “Shape, form and structure are essential aspects of my sculptures created with a paper mache technique in recycled paper, cardboard, wire, metal and acrylic paint…. Using up-cycled resources addresses my concerns about climate change and the environment.”

This exhibition highlights artistic expression as a vital healing tool, helping individuals process emotions, share their journeys, and reconnect with themselves and their communities. Through painting, sculpture, photography and more, participants find strength, resilience, and hope. “The Art of Recovery” celebrates how creativity fosters personal growth, reduces stigma, and unites communities.

Eagles Up Close on the Delaware

The upper Delaware River is home to bald eagles in the cold of winter. Join us for a day of admiring America’s most majestic bird! We will visit the Delaware River above Port Jervis, New York, and the Lackawaxen River as well. Bundle up because it will be cold, and bring binoculars and lunch. Participants will meet at the Environmental Education Center, 190 Lord Stirling Road, Basking Ridge, NJ 07920. Pre-registration is required.

This class runs approximately 60-90 minutes long, and all materials/ instructions are included <3 Our Greenhouse Classes are BYOB! wine glasses provided. Feel free to bring your own beverage/ coffee / light snacks :) "Plant + sip" classes are catered towards adults 21+. Individuals under 21 are welcome (along with age appropriate drinks/ mocktails) however any minors under 18 must be accompanied by an adult. *FOR GROUP TICKETS*: we recommend purchasing the class tickets all together under one reservation, to ensure that you will all be seated together and to ensure you will all get seats to the class! Otherwise, we cannot guarantee that everyone will get seats to the class. CANCELLATION POLICY: All cancellations for classes must be emailed to spottedleafco@gmail.com a minimum of 48 hours before the scheduled start of the event to qualify for a store credit. Tickets to classes will be forfeited without a refund if participants arrive 15 minutes or more after the start of the class.
