NJ Audubon Hawk Watches at Scherman Hoffman Observation Deck Join our Naturalist on the observation deck for a bird’s eye view of fall migration. We'll be looking for migrating raptors and any passerines passing through. Marvel at the spectacular views of Broad-winged Hawk kettles as they fly over the sanctuary, Bald Eagles, and other raptors. Hawk Watches are scheduled for Fridays, 9/8, 9/15, and 9/22 from 9:30 AM to 12:00 PM and Thursdays, 9/7, 9/14. and 9/21 from 1:00 to 3:30 PM. Loaner binoculars will be available. Note: a hawk watch day will be cancelled if there is rain, snow, or weather warnings. COST: Free for members, $5 nonmembers. Registration and fee are per date. Mixed Media Course *Kids 9-11, 9-week art course starting Thursdays September 21 - November 16, 04:30 pm - 06:00 pm Young artists complete hands-on projects that encourage self-expression and creative problem solving while having fun and learning to work in a variety of media, including acrylic paint, markers, watercolor, tempera, colored pencil, collage, and oil pastels. The class explores the basic principles of visual art, art historical periods and styles, and the work of well-known artists. Students will also explore the art on view in the galleries. Children are invited to repeat "Mixed Media" as projects vary each semester. Special Notes All students must comply with the Policies and Procedures found on The Center's website.
