Introduction to Rag Papermaking with Ron Erickson Saturday, July 13th, 1pm-4pm Members: $130, Non-Members: $145 Material Fee: $60 Students will learn about the history of rag papermaking, prepare rag for the hollander beater, run the beater, and pull sheets of paper from pre-made cotton rag pulp. Each student will leave with a thorough understanding of rag papermaking and 5 sheets of rag paper (Dried paper will be available for pick up 1 week from the class or will be shipped to them) They are invited to take with them also a portion of the pulp made that day to pull into sheets at home. Each student will receive an instruction and resource sheet to make their own mould and deckle and set up a home papermaking studio. About the Instructor: Ron Erickson is the Program Manager of Frontline Paper and a lead instructor for Frontline Paper Papermaking Workshops. Ron has been making "rag paper" since 2016 when he began as a volunteer for what was then Combat Paper NJ. Ron has made rag paper from everything from Military Uniforms, worn out blue jeans, to cast off muslin and Firefighters Turnout Gear. A skilled carpenter, Ron has also made papermaking equipment

Sourland Mountain Festival This is the 19th year the Sourland Mountain Festival brings the communities of the Central New Jersey region together and presents the best in musical talent, local food and drink, family fun – and a spectacular view. We strongly encourage our food vendors to use compostable cups and plates and not sell Single use plastics, including beverage bottles. Guests and Volunteers are encouraged to bring their own reusable water/beverage bottles. Water will be available from two water stations on festival grounds. Mountain Fest beverage glasses, T-shirts and other Sourland Conservancy merchandise will be sold at the Festival. Relax, enjoy the view & help Save The Sourlands at the same time!
