Hulda: The Other Legend of Sleepy Hollow Hulda: The Other Legend of Sleepy Hollow, previously seen at New York's Old Dutch Church, comes this fall to New Jersey's Old Dutch Parsonage. The churchyard of the Old Dutch Church in Sleepy Hollow, made famous as haunt of the "Headless Horseman" in Washington Irving's "The Legend of Sleepy Hollow," is resting place for Hulda of Bohemia. Shunned from society as a witch, Hulda would later win acclaim as a Patriot hero of the Revolutionary War. Featuring Carla Lynne Hall, with an original score performed by Jim Keyes, this one-woman show tells the story of Hulda from the perspective of Abby, an enslaved African girl Hulda befriends at a time when both are forced to live on the edges of society. Please bring your own lawn chairs or blankets for this outdoors autumnal dramatic presentation by Carla and Keyes. Oktoberfest & Cigar Night
Join us on September 26 at 6pm for a night of fun, food, beer, and cigars in the Highlander Pavilion at Royce Brook Golf Club. We'll have a variety of beers to choose from, including classic Oktoberfest brews, and cigars to enjoy. Attendees will receive door prizes, 4 beer tickets, 2 cigars, and a German dinner buffet. Attendees will get to enjoy beer tasting with Flounder Brewing and join the Mobile Cigar Lounge for cigar rolling. Tickets for beer and buffet only are available as well. This paddle will help you get centered for beginning your day! Participants will meet at Fisherman’s Parking Lot in Lord Stirling Park, Basking Ridge, NJ. Pre-registration is required.
Pottery Course: Kids 9-11
Pottery Course *Kids ages 9-11, 10 week art course starting Wednesday's September 27 - November 29, 04:00 pm - 05:30 pm Students will gain an understanding of the nature of clay. They will experience first hand the magic of transforming clay into vessels as they are challenges artistically to discover their relationship with the wheel and clay. Glazing and firing will be covered. Functional and sculptural handbuilding projects will be explored. Experimentation will be encouraged. NOTE: There is no class on 10/4 & 11/22. Special Notes All students must comply with the Policies and Procedures found on The Center's website. There will be no refunds for students removed from class for failure to observe The Center’s Policies and Procedures. Materials All materials are included, however, we recommend bringing a smock or old t-shirt to wear over clothes to avoid messes
