Angela Pilgrim & Barbara Wallace Solo Exhibitions at The Center for Contemporary Art The Center for Contemporary Art is pleased to present two fall solo exhibitions on view September 27 through December 8. Angela Pilgrim: New Growth presents the work of Angela Pilgrim whose studio is in Newark, New Jersey. She explains, “My work explores the Black female gaze through figurative imagery of the body. Utilizing portraiture, printmaking, pattern making and mixed media.” Barbara Wallace: Sculpture showcases the work of sculptor Barbara Wallace, who resides in Elizabeth, New Jersey. Wallace is a sculptor known for her figurative art works and innovative use of recycled materials. When discussing her work, she explains, “Shape, form and structure are essential aspects of my sculptures created with a paper mache technique in recycled paper, cardboard, wire, metal and acrylic paint…. Using up-cycled resources addresses my concerns about climate change and the environment.”

These walks are informal and informative: birds, trees, tracks, wildflowers, reptiles, and amphibians are a few of nature’s wonders waiting for us to discover. The walks are cancelled if there is snow, rain, or weather warnings. Registration required by 4:00 PM the day before the walk. Pre-registration Required. COST: Free for members, $5 nonmembers. The 103rd Far Hills Race The 103rd running of the Far Hills Race Meeting (a.k.a. The Hunt) will take place on Saturday, October 19th, 2024. For more than a century, this annual gathering at Moorland Farm is a highlight of the fall season and attracts thousands of spectators who return, year after year, to watch the world’s finest steeplechases, reconnect with family and friends, network, support worthy causes and make memories to last a lifetime. Don’t miss out – tickets are available to purchase now! A reserved parking space for your car to host a tailgate and watch the races at your dedicated space. A general admission ticket to access the event grounds and a friend’s reserved parking space. A Chairman’s Tent ticket grants you access to an all-inclusive VIP tent with seating at the finish line, an upscale buffet lunch, and an open bar. A Hunt Club ticket grants guests 21+ access to food, drinks, entertainment and a private area along the backstretch. Private tents are also available for corporate or large private parties.

NJ Audubon: The Fungi Kingdom Led by Dorothy Smullen, Teacher/Naturalist, former president of the New Jersey Mycological Association Join Teacher/naturalist Dorothy Smullen for an all-day NJ Audubon Institute For Field Naturalists workshop about all things "mushroom." Using keys, field guides, powerpoint presentations, and a trail walk we will cover the basics of identification, and learn about the importance of fungi for the ecosystem and the future.
