NJ Audubon: Dark Sky Presented by Stephen Mariconda, DarkSky Delegate. During the presentation “DarkSky”, Stephen will discuss light pollution and its environmental impact in New Jersey. Learn what light pollution is and how it negatively impacts ecosystems, wildlife, human health, and how it obscures our view of the starry night sky. Learn about and discuss responsible environmentally friendly outdoor lighting practices and policy suggestions to reduce light pollution in North Jersey and beyond. Stephen Mariconda is an environmental advocate and graduate student at Rutgers School of Public Health. Registration required. Ticket sale ends 11/12 at 4:00 PM.

STUDENT RUSH TICKETS AVAILABLE! Beginning on Tue, November 12 at 12pm, $20 Student Rush tickets are available for this show for students who visit the STNJ Ticket Office and show their Student ID. Ticket Office hours for Tuesday-Thursday are 12pm-8pm (15 Livingston Ave). These films have garnered immense popularity, largely due to their groundbreaking soundtracks praised for their innovative fusion of orchestral and electronic elements alongside scratch DJ techniques. The upcoming spectacle will feature the movie showcased on a colossal HD screen, complemented by a diverse ensemble of musicians and instrumentalists performing the film’s iconic score and soundtrack live. Angela Pilgrim & Barbara Wallace Solo Exhibitions at The Center for Contemporary Art

Angela Pilgrim & Barbara Wallace Solo Exhibitions at The Center for Contemporary Art The Center for Contemporary Art is pleased to present two fall solo exhibitions on view September 27 through December 8. Angela Pilgrim: New Growth presents the work of Angela Pilgrim whose studio is in Newark, New Jersey. She explains, “My work explores the Black female gaze through figurative imagery of the body. Utilizing portraiture, printmaking, pattern making and mixed media.” Barbara Wallace: Sculpture showcases the work of sculptor Barbara Wallace, who resides in Elizabeth, New Jersey. Wallace is a sculptor known for her figurative art works and innovative use of recycled materials. When discussing her work, she explains, “Shape, form and structure are essential aspects of my sculptures created with a paper mache technique in recycled paper, cardboard, wire, metal and acrylic paint…. Using up-cycled resources addresses my concerns about climate change and the environment.”

Creative Women's Showcase The Center is pleased to present the Creative Women’s Showcase exhibition on view November 1 – December 8, 2024, curated by Ilisa Zollenberg. Exhibiting artists Serena Bocchino (Basking Ridge), Meeta Garg (Basking Ridge), Ivey Kampouris (Bridgewater), Grace Martoccia (Basking Ridge), Seanna Noonan (Basking Ridge), Carolina W. Rivera (Califon), Isabell Villacis (South Bound Brook), and Ilisa Zollenberg (Basking Ridge) will showcase their work in mixed media, pastels, acrylic, photography, and more. Ilisa Zollenberg, Curator, says “Art is a powerful communicator. It connects us to each other. It introduces us to strangers. It is a storyteller of the soul. It entices the audience to look further into a message that needs to be told.” There will be a special opening reception, free and open to the public, on November 1 from 5:30-9pm with a celebration of women artists and business owners with an art exhibition, vendor sale, and meet & greet.

Through painting, sculpture, photography and more, participants find strength, resilience, and hope. “The Art of Recovery” celebrates how creativity fosters personal growth, reduces stigma, and unites communities.
