Angela Pilgrim & Barbara Wallace Solo Exhibitions at The Center for Contemporary Art The Center for Contemporary Art is pleased to present two fall solo exhibitions on view September 27 through December 8. Angela Pilgrim: New Growth presents the work of Angela Pilgrim whose studio is in Newark, New Jersey. She explains, “My work explores the Black female gaze through figurative imagery of the body. Utilizing portraiture, printmaking, pattern making and mixed media.” Barbara Wallace: Sculpture showcases the work of sculptor Barbara Wallace, who resides in Elizabeth, New Jersey. Wallace is a sculptor known for her figurative art works and innovative use of recycled materials. When discussing her work, she explains, “Shape, form and structure are essential aspects of my sculptures created with a paper mache technique in recycled paper, cardboard, wire, metal and acrylic paint…. Using up-cycled resources addresses my concerns about climate change and the environment.”

Through painting, sculpture, photography and more, participants find strength, resilience, and hope. “The Art of Recovery” celebrates how creativity fosters personal growth, reduces stigma, and unites communities.

Bargains for everyone and all ages.Twice a year, in spring and fall, Atlantic Visiting Nurse holds an epic rummage sale at the Far Hills Fairgrounds off routes 202 and 512 in Far Hills, New Jersey. The sale is our major fundraiser. It helps us provide home health and hospice care for uninsured and underinsured patients. The Atlantic Visiting Nurse Rummage Sale involves hundreds of volunteers and attracts thousands of bargain hunters who scour our two acres and 25 departments of bargain merchandise. Make a Hypertufa Mini-Trough

Make a Hypertufa Mini-Trough Hypertufa is a handmade material which resembles “tufa,” a rugged volcanic rock used to make planting troughs. These containers are especially suited for small rock garden plants. You will learn how to make your own hypertufa mini-trough and receive instructions for curing it at home. Wear work clothes as the process can be messy. Workshop fee includes the cost of supplies. Pre-registration is required. Enrollment is limited to 10 participants. Fee: $50

Halloween Hayrides This spooky season, the Stable is offering two types of hayrides to provide an all-inclusive experience. Join us on our family-friendly hayride where a tour guide will tell spooky ghost stories along the way—looking for something a little more frightening? Join us for our truly haunting “jump scare” tour. This hayride is recommended for people 10 years and older. Date/Time: October 4th, 5th and 6th. Family Rides: 5pm, 5:45pm Jump Scare Tour: 7pm, 7:45pm Fee: $10 per person. Activity Requirements: Advance registration is required. All participants must sign an annual waiver. Arrive 15 minutes prior to your scheduled ride. Registration: Pre-registration is required. Online registration closes 72 hours in advance, and the website will show the session as “unavailable.” If you are within the 72 hours and wish to register, please call 908-722-1200 ext. 5528, Monday- Friday, 8 am-3 pm, and our office staff will do their best to assist you in registering for any openings.
