Walk an Alpaca - Saturday Mornings PLEASE READ CAREFULLY!!! NON REFUNDABLE!!!!! NON CHANGEABLE!!!! Alpaca Halter Training (Walking): Walk one of our beautiful, friendly Alpacas around our property. Enjoy their wonderful personalities and cuteness overload. You will be instructed on how to handle your alpaca and we will give you a little bit of information on our Alpacas. 1 reservation is 1 Alpaca and 1 Person. Children under the age of 9 cannot walk by themselves. Your walk will last around 15 minutes. Feel free to take lots of pictures with your alpaca and if you need assistance doing so, please as one of our Volunteers for help. This is a rain/snow or shine unless torrential rain then we will postpone. PLEASE BE ONTIME! IF YOU ARE MORE THAN 5 MINUTES LATE FOR YOUR SCHEDULED WALK, YOUR WALK WILL BE CANCELLED!!!!! Our helpers are all volunteers, so tipping is appreciated.

The house will open for seating at 10:30AM. At 11AM: Our featured performer at this event for two decades, Joe Becton, renowned historian, and former National Park Service Interpretive Specialist, gives a special presentation focused on Civil War General Benjamin Butler; his fascinating career and influence on race relations and treatment of African Americans during this time of national upheaval. Seating is limited, advance reservations encouraged. After his program, enjoy light refreshments and tour the historic Abraham Staats House until close at 1:30PM. The exhibition will run from January 12 to February 23, 2025, at the Farmstead Arts Center, located at 450 King George Road, Basking Ridge, NJ. The exhibit will feature a diverse collection of fine art, photography, sculpture, and mixed media pieces inspired by the natural beauty of the Highlands region, encompassing areas of New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, and Connecticut. This annual event aims to highlight the intersection of art and environmental conservation, promoting the mission of the New Jersey Highlands Coalition to protect and enhance the vital resources of the Highlands. Visitors can explore the gallery for free during regular hours: Wednesdays and Fridays from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM, and Sundays from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM.
