Mixed Media Course: Kids 5-8

Mixed Media Course *Kids ages 5-8, 8 week course starting Monday's September 18 - November 06, 04:30 pm - 06:00 pm Young artists complete hands-on projects that encourage self-expression and creative problem solving while having fun and learning to work in a variety of media, including acrylic paint, markers, watercolor, tempera, colored pencil, collage, and oil pastels. The class explores the basic principles of visual art, art historical periods and styles, and the work of well-known artists. Students will also explore the art on view in the galleries. Children are invited to repeat "Mixed Media" as projects vary each semester. Special Notes All students must comply with the Policies and Procedures found on The Center's website. There will be no refunds for students removed from class for failure to observe The Center’s Policies and Procedures. Materials All materials are included.

Drawing in Depth Course: Kids 5-8

Drawing in Depth Course *Kids ages 5-8, 6 week course starting Saturday's October 14 - November 18, 01:00 pm - 02:30 pm This program is designed for young artists with a love of drawing who want to deepen and develop their skills. Working from photographs or a different still life each week, or imaginary themes, students will learn about the elements of a good drawing and develop a firm foundation of form, composition, proportion, value, perspective and line quality. The class explores the basic principles of visual art, art historical periods and styles, and the work of well-known artists. The teacher will provide frequent demonstrations. Children are encouraged to repeat this class to continue to build drawing skills. Special Notes All students must comply with the Policies and Procedures found on The Center's website. The Little Star That Could

The Little Star That Could Travel with an average yellow star on his quest to get a “name” and a planet to call his own. A “cool” red star, a “hot” blue star, a dying star, double stars and the Milky Way Galaxy teach Little Star some important things about being a star. Imagine Little Star’s surprise when he discovers that several planets rotate around him. The show offers a great introduction to the different kinds of stars in space, as well as the planets in our solar system. (Recommended for ages 6-12) Plan to arrive early! Planetarium shows start promptly. Late admission is not allowed. Arrive 20-30 minutes before your show starts to purchase your tickets and look at the exhibits. Parking: The closest parking lots are #9 and #1. Walk up the stairs to get to the Planetarium entrance. Call the Planetarium if you need handicapped parking. Admission: $10 per person for one show, $18 per person for two shows back to back Make a reservation: Reservations are recommended. All ticket sales are done at the door on the day of the show.
