Led by Dorothy Smullen, Teacher/Naturalist Join a fascinating illustrated program on all aspects of color in nature. Why do animals, plants and fungi look the way they do?  Learn about bird feathers, frog skin, octopus camouflage, and historic pigments. Understand the mechanisms of fall leaf color change, bioluminescence, fluorescence, and iridescence. Join teacher/ naturalist Dorothy Smullen for this fun program as we await springtime. John James Audubon: A Visionary Artist – Presentation by Tom Lamb

Tom Lamb will give a brief overview of the extraordinary life and achievements of John James Audubon, along with what makes him the greatest bird artist, and some of the controversies that surround him. Tom will also discuss why Audubon prints are so valued and why some publishers of the prints might be more desirable than others. Tom Lamb is a retired auction specialist who started at Christie’s in 1980 in London and moved to Bloomsbury Book auctions in 2007, and to Bonhams Book department in 2011 before retiring in 2021. He was always involved in book and map auction records. In his retirement he has set up a consultancy firm providing advice on Appraisals and Estate management. NJ Audubon: Digital Photography Workshop V: Digital Editing 2

Instructors:Phil Witt and Jack Moskowitz, Associate Naturalists This workshop will focus on integrating Lightroom into a Photoshop workflow. More and more photographers are using Lightroom to organize and process their images. However, Photoshop allows the photographer to easily accomplish image editing that would be difficult in Lightroom. In this workshop students will learn how to integrate Lightroom/Bridge/Adobe Camera RAW/Photoshop into a combined workflow. The workshop will also focus on more advanced editing techniques, such as masking in Lightroom and Adobe Camera Raw and using layers/masking in Photoshop. Participants are encouraged to bring a flashdrive with two images (preferably RAW) for editing demonstrations. Lecture/discussion. COST: $12 members, $25 nonmembers. Interested in becoming a member? Trees in Winter

Do you want a different nature challenge? Join Dorothy to study trees in winter without the help of leaves. Registrants will be studying twigs and their differences in order to identify the unknown tree. After an indoor session, we will walk the trails to see bark patterns.
