The Friends of Abraham Staats House and South Bound Brook Historic Preservation Advisory Commission are delighted to once again present the “Tory Jack Day” program at the Abraham Staats House. The house will open for seating at 10:30AM. At 11AM: Our featured performer at this event for two decades, Joe Becton, renowned historian, and former National Park Service Interpretive Specialist, gives a special presentation focused on Civil War General Benjamin Butler; his fascinating career and influence on race relations and treatment of African Americans during this time of national upheaval. Seating is limited, advance reservations encouraged. After his program, enjoy light refreshments and tour the historic Abraham Staats House until close at 1:30PM. Join us for a unique evening of spirit communications, guided by Ghost is Clear (GIC) Paranormal. GIC has experienced and recorded happenings during several investigations of this historic family home, built c. 1740. On this night, explore individual rooms of the House for signs and sounds of its fascinating past. (Feel free to bring your own investigative equipment for the explorations.) Ghost Is Clear Paranormal at Work! Join the Friends of Abraham Staats House and the Ghost Is Clear Paranormal (GIC) for a night of revealing what GIC has discovered from several paranormal investigations of this historic home. You will explore the grounds where the Revolutionary War soldiers walked. Some have said they’ve “felt something” but did the spirits cooperate and reveal themselves? Taro readings, too! GIC investigators will present their findings and, afterwards, participants will break into groups to explore with GIC’s investigative equipment. Participants are welcome to bring your own equipment. Space is limited to 26 people. ADMISSION: $50 Pre-registered Only. No at the door admissions.
