Kick off the New Year and America’s 250th birthday, with this special program about our nation’s history! General George Washington, brought to life by Washington expert and portrayer Samuel Davis, speaks to us about his experiences during the Battles of New York in 1776, the American army’s retreat through New Jersey and into Pennsylvania, and the dramatic “Ten Crucial Days,” that changed the course of a struggling young nation’s history. The General will touch on the Middlebrook Cantonment of 1778-79, when his American army stayed in winter quarters in this area. General Washington will also discuss the “miraculous achievements” of “Drillmaster” Baron von Steuben, who used the Abraham Staats House as a military headquarters during the final months of the Cantonment.
House open for seating at 3PM, presentation: 3:30PM.
After his remarks, General Washington will join guests to answer questions and socialize. Enjoy light refreshments, live music, tours of the historic Abraham Staats House, until the house closes at 5PM.
