Breathing Ink: The Suminagashi Experience with Keith Garubba Discover the allure of rippling rings of color when you immerse yourself in the ancient Japanese art form Suminagashi. Your single session hands-on art experience will be meditative and exhilarating all at once. Suminagashi is endlessly captivating despite its simplicity. Floating inks on clear water involves finesse and mindfulness, yet anyone can pick it up! The dynamic and nuanced results will surprise you every time. You’ll be walked through all the techniques you need to make striated and rippling rings of color whose beauty is as mysterious as it is captivating. In this workshop you will: • Create 12 marbled papers: 6 at 9x11”, and 6 at 12” x 19”, yours to keep. • Discover some of the history and philosophy behind this meditative art form. • Explore your body’s natural impact upon the design. • Learn how to control up to 4 colors at once in the suminagashi bath, and use the simplest of tools to expand the possibilities! 1 Ticket to this event reserves your own marbling station, set of tools, and 12 marble-ready sheets of paper. In this 1-hour class, you will have the opportunity to decorate your very own haunted house using buttercream and royal icing pieces. 4H Trunk or Treat The Somerset County 4-H Association Presents: 4-H Trunk or Treat October 20th 6:00-7:30pm Attention all witches, ghouls and goblins! Jump on your broomsticks and join the Somerset County 4-H Association for the Somerset County 4-H Trunk or Treat. There will be activities, games, and of course...CANDY! A Murder Is Announced
A Murder Is Announced The Lord Stirling Theater Company will perform the Agatha Christie murder mystery “A Murder Is Announced” in the English Barn Theater at the Farmstead Arts Center, 450 King George Road, Basking Ridge, NJ. “A Murder Is Announced” will open on Friday, October 20, at 7:30PM, with additional performances on October 21 at 7:30PM, October 22 at 2:00PM, October 27 and 28 at 7:30PM, and October 29 at 2:00PM. Tickets are $25 general admission, $23 for seniors (65 and over) and students, $20 for Farmstead Arts members, and $15 for children under 12. Tickets may be purchased online at https://farmsteadartscenter.org or at the door (cash only). Based on Agatha Christie’s 1950 novel of the same name and adapted for the stage in 1977 by Leslie Darbon, “A Murder Is Announced” takes place in the quiet, little village of Chipping Cleghorn, where the residents are astonished to read an advertisement in the local newspaper that gives the date and time a murder will take place at the home of Letitia Blacklock.
