The Magical Mysterious Monarch For years, scientists wondered about the wanderings of monarch butterflies. Large numbers of monarchs are seen during the summer and early fall in the northern regions of the United States, and then great swarms are seen flying south. But until the 1970s, no one knew where they went during the winter. Join Cynthia Hedin, Somerset County Master Gardener, to learn about the discovery of the monarch’s winter destination, and about the magical life cycle of the monarch. Fee: $15 per person

Nature Days Enrichment Programs At Nature Days, we let kids be kids as they explore, create, and discover! Our educators guide children through structured and unstructured learning and play time outdoors, helping children develop the creativity and critical thinking needed to build long-lasting connections with nature. Age appropriate activities let children develop cognitive, social, and emotional skills, encourage cooperative play, practice positive social behavior and communication skills. Our programs are made up of small groups of children with a low student to teacher ratio, allowing each child to get the attention they need. Fairview Farm Wildlife Preserve has plenty of space to explore with quiet forests, trickling streams, colorful meadows, big skies, fresh air, and even some magical places where fairies are thought to live! Ages 3-5 Adult Participation Optional
Delaware & Raritan Canal Paddle
Delaware & Raritan Canal Paddle Quiet, peaceful, and still, the D & R Canal is an ideal place for a relaxing paddle. Cruising along, we will enjoy the sights and sounds the waterway has to offer. Participants will meet in parking lot F at Colonial Park, 156 Mettlers Road, Somerset, NJ. Pre-registration is required.

Swamp Kids at the EEC (Ages 8-10) Become a Swamp Kid! This program is designed to let the child’s curiosity and passion guide their learning. Nature is a great teacher for this outdoor, afterschool series! $40 for 4-day session per person
