Sunset Meditation at the RVCC Planetarium Join Friday, November 8th at 7:00 pm for a peaceful sunset meditation at the RVCC Planetarium. How do STEM workers, NASA professionals, athletes, and business executives cope with stress? Mindfulness. Meditation is a powerful tool for maintaining psychological health and resilience. Since the planetarium offers a dark and quiet space for relaxation, it is the perfect place for meditation. Enjoy a guided meditation experience in the comfortable, reclined seats in the RVCC Planetarium. Relax under a night sky filled with stars, then travel from Earth to beyond our galaxy. (Recommended for ages 10-adult) Tickets are $11 per person for one show, $20 per person for two. Reservations are recommended but not required. Green Day's American Idiot The Brook Arts Center Community Players open their current production of Green Day’s legendary Tony and Grammy Award-winning rock opera, American Idiot, this Friday at the Brook Arts Center! Performances will run from November 1st to November 10th. American Idiot features music by Green Day; lyrics by Billie Joe Armstrong; and book by Billie Joe Armstrong & Michael Mayer. Directed by Christopher J. Guell, Music Directed by David F. Shirley, and Choreographed by Tyron Howard, American Idiot follows the exhilarating journey of a new generation of young Americans as they struggle to find meaning in a post 9/11 world. Filling out the creative team is Leah Krupnick as Assistant Director and Costumer, Bradford Lindsey as Scenic Designer and Properties, Sam Lazofsky as Lighting Designer, and Elaina Misciagna as Stage Manager. American Idiot is produced in collaboration with the Media & Performance Collective and Brook Arts Center with Andrew S. Golden as Producer. American Idiot’s cast includes Nick Buonvicino as Johnny, Brian Johnston as Tunny, Connor Introna as Will, Emily DeMaio as Whatsername, Crystal Ann Little as Heather, Fola Walker as Extraordinary Girl, and James Barton as Saint Jimmy. Angela Pilgrim & Barbara Wallace Solo Exhibitions at The Center for Contemporary Art The Center for Contemporary Art is pleased to present two fall solo exhibitions on view September 27 through December 8. Angela Pilgrim: New Growth presents the work of Angela Pilgrim whose studio is in Newark, New Jersey. She explains, “My work explores the Black female gaze through figurative imagery of the body. Utilizing portraiture, printmaking, pattern making and mixed media.” Barbara Wallace: Sculpture showcases the work of sculptor Barbara Wallace, who resides in Elizabeth, New Jersey. Wallace is a sculptor known for her figurative art works and innovative use of recycled materials. When discussing her work, she explains, “Shape, form and structure are essential aspects of my sculptures created with a paper mache technique in recycled paper, cardboard, wire, metal and acrylic paint…. Using up-cycled resources addresses my concerns about climate change and the environment.”
