2024 Middlebrook 5 Generals Narrated Bus Tour
2024 Middlebrook 5 Generals Narrated Bus Tour Experience this one-of-a-kind tour and step back into Middlebrook in 1778-79! Where is it? Why is it important? Be in the know! Multiple tours are offered, plan on 3 hours for each tour as the bus stops briefly at all 5 historic sites for a quick side tour. The tour itself happens on the bus as we travel the area where the Continental and British Armies traveled in the winter of 1778-79. (After the first stop, guests ask for longer tours!). Experience and touch the places where George and Martha Washington lived, Where Baron Von Stuben helped create an army out of farmers. Where West Point began, where George Washington danced for hours, and where the beacon alert system and other issues were discussed and solutions were created. All these places are right here in our own backyards and make up this tour. Covering the Middlebrook Cantonment, a somewhat mild winter inbetween Valley Forge and Jockey Hollow, the bus travels roads used by the soldiers during this winter, much was accomplished and planned that aided in the success of the war. Maple Sugaring at The EEC Maple sugaring is a tradition in the Northeast that began centuries ago with the Native Americans and Colonists. People of all ages are invited to see this tradition brought to life at the Environmental Education Center (EEC). You will see how trees are tapped, view sap-collecting methods past and present, and see the boiling process that produces delicious New Jersey maple syrup. This 60-minute, outdoor program is conducted at our Sugar Shack, a ½-mile hike from the EEC. Please arrive at the EEC 30-40 minutes before the program start time to purchase tickets and hike to the Sugar Shack to meet your Naturalist. Please dress appropriately for the weather conditions. Boots are recommended as the trails can be wet, muddy, and/or covered by snow. Tickets cost $6 per student/senior and $7 per adult.

The Texier House Museum is typically open the 1st & 3rd Sunday of each month from 2pm to 4pm, but be sure to periodically check this page for any updates or event closings. Admission is FREE.
