Free Tours of Wyckoff-Garretson House
NJ, United StatesFree Tours of Wyckoff-Garretson House The Wyckoff-Garretson House is a rare treasure - an original farmstead from the early 1700s. Join for free docent-led tours. With a foundation dating to 1709, and upper sections from 1730 and 1805, this period-furnished 3-story museum is a delight to explore. As you walk through the rooms (no red ropes or glass partitions) and hear about Dutch colonial life from our excellent docent, you will get a feel for what it was like to live in America before the revolution. Tours begin in the carriage house at the top of the gravel driveway, where you will find further information about colonial life, restrooms and used books for sale. The carriage house and first floor of the museum house are handicapped-accessible. This site is stewarded by The Meadows Foundation, a 100% volunteer non-profit that restores, preserves and provides programming for the Wyckoff-Garreston House as well as 3 others (the Van Liew-Suydam House, the Hageman Farm and the Van Duyn-Van Wickle House). For information on becoming a member of The Meadows Foundation or renting a historic site for your private affair, please speak to the docent or visit our website - www.TheMeadowsFoundation.org.
