Welcome World to George Washington’s Rockingham

New Jersey welcomes the world to Rockingham State Historic Site for the 250th Birthday of the United States. Visit the historic New Jersey Dutch Barn for an illustrated introduction to George Washington’s final headquarters of the Revolutionary War. Handle reproduction artifacts of the Revolutionary War. Sign up for tours of the grounds. Rockingham was George Washington's final wartime headquarters. Arriving from New York, Washington stayed at Rockingham from August 23, 1783 and left November 10, 1783. While at Rockingham, Washington entertained guests, issued his Farewell Orders to the Army, and learned the United States became formally independent with the signing of the Treaty of Paris. The historic house remains closed due to construction for stabilization of the south elevation. ? Revolution NJ is New Jersey’s official observance of the 250th anniversaries of New Jersey’s first Constitution July 2, 2026 and the American Revolution in New Jersey from 2024 – 2033.

Hypertufa is a handmade material which resembles “tufa,” a rugged volcanic rock used to make planting troughs. These containers are especially suited for small rock garden plants. You will learn how to make your own hypertufa mini-trough and receive instructions for curing it at home. Wear work clothes as the process can be messy. Workshop fee includes the cost of supplies.

The Center for Cultural & Creative Exchange (CCCE) brings the beauty and tradition of the Chinese Mid-Autumn Festival to Bridgewater Commons with a spectacular celebration of light, culture, and creativity. Guests can explore 15 illuminated, handcrafted Chinese lanterns—some soaring up to 10 feet tall—displayed throughout the center’s first two levels. Hands-on lantern-making and cultural craft workshops will also be offered in the Events Space. Also known as the Moon Festival, the Mid-Autumn Festival is a cherished celebration centered on family, togetherness, and gratitude. Traditionally, families gather to share mooncakes, admire the full moon, and enjoy colorful lantern displays and festivities. Dates: October 2, 3, 4, 9, 10, and 11 * No hayrides on the 5th, but all other activities will be available. Fee: $15 per person. Activity Requirements: Advance registration is required. All participants must sign an annual waiver. Arrive 15 minutes prior to your scheduled ride. Registration: Pre-registration is required. Curated by John Reinking, the exhibition will be on view September 25 through December 7, 2026. The public is invited to a free opening reception on Friday, September 25, from 6:00–8:00 p.m. at The Center for Contemporary Art in Bedminster.
