KAN-U-KAYAK

KAN-U-KAYAK (All Ages, 10 years and older with parent) This introductory kayak class will teach you the basic paddling techniques, safety aspects of kayaking, and handling a kayak in and out of the water.  During this session, you will learn how to successfully wet exit your kayak, practice getting in and out of the kayak, and control your kayak with proper paddling technique.  Please wear a bathing suit, bring a towel, and be prepared to get completely wet.  Participants will use solo kayaks.  All required equipment will be provided.  Participants will meet at Warrenbrook Pool in Warren, NJ for the pool class and at the EEC, 190 Lord Stirling Road in Basking Ridge, NJ for the pond class.   Pre-registration is required.  Tuesday, August 6   9:00am-11:00am (pool) 12:30pm-2:30pm (pond)

Norz Hill Farm Farmers Market In addition to its regular farm market hours, Norz Hill Farm is adding a weekly farmers market to its schedule of community-friendly events this summer. Taking place on Tuesday afternoons from 2:00 to 6:00 pm at 120 South Branch Road in Hillsborough, the market will feature wholesome foods and items from area vendors. “The purpose of the market is to offer fresh food and products to Somerset County and neighboring regions,” said Megan Norz, the farm market manager. The market will take place rain or shine, except in the event of severe weather. Watchung Farmers Market The Farmers Market will provide residents with an opportunity to access local products from local vendors. Returning vendors include Gramps Kitchen, Hot Graham Sauce Company, Lulu Artisanal Lemonade, Paolo's Kitchen, Pickle Culture, Pies & Quiches, Schiefersteins Farm, Smart Buy Natural Foods, and Sutton Farms. • Joining us this year are AquaSprout Farms, Barking Good Bakery, Complex Herbal Blends, Pourtuga Coffee House, Raining Sprinkles Bake Shop, River Valley Community Grains, Wood Box Soap, and Zell’s Farm. The list of young vendors from the Valley View Young Entrepreneurs Club is expanding. Crystals and Co. and Sunny Dayz Jewelry will be joined by Happy Henna and Commendable Candles. More vendors are anticipated and there will be special events, such as music and tables by local scouting troops. There will once again be a borough table providing information from CERT/OEM and the Environmental Commission. There will be a Watchung Lions Club collection box for eyeglasses and hearing aids. National Night Out (NNO) is a township wide event to bring together law enforcement and citizens while promoting awareness, safety, and neighborhood unity through games, activities and music. Please come out and enjoy a night with your Franklin Community. We will be shutting down the municipal complex, 475 DeMott Lane, Somerset on Tuesday, August 6th from 6pm-8:30pm to enjoy: Food Games Music Vendors Dunk Tank Police Building Tours and more! There will be a police motorcycle and cars, fire trucks, ambulance, the National Guard, and construction equipment for the kids to explore. We will have Bello Ciao Pizza Truck and for a $2.00 donation to the Franklin Food Bank, the 'Cooking with Cops' students will be making hot dogs and chicken wings! Finally, finish the night off with a visit to the ice cream truck! Let's make it a night to remember!!! The Franklin Township Police is offering Public Safety Building tours!
