NJ United States

The Somerset County Park Commission Environmental Education (EEC) will virtually present the 2021 Children’s Art Show, Nature Through a Child’s Eye.  The EEC has been featuring artwork from Somerset County students for twenty-nine years and due to the COVID-19 pandemic, will continue the exhibit this year in a virtual format through the months of January and February.   The creative art display is available at; on Facebook at /EECscparks; and on Instagram at @eec_scparks.   The works communicate their views of nature and the environment though application of textures, shapes and colors. Adults and children alike will enjoy the works of the creative minds of Somerset County school children.   Past projects have included fall leaves printed with tempera, nature landscapes in pastels, and impressions of trees, all of which demonstrate the children's relationship with nature.   For information on Nature Through a Child's Eye or other Environmental Education Center activities, call 908-722-1200, ext. 5335 or NJ Relay 711 for individuals with a hearing or speech impairment.

CALL FOR ARTISTS – exhibition entitled “Violent Devotion”

January 17 - March 14
NJ United States + Google Map

Hamilton Street Gallery has invited Christy E. O’Connor to be the guest curator for this exhibition, which describes a prevalent topic that has effected all of us. We are honored and thrilled to work with her. From religious fanaticism, to celebrity and hero worship, to personal relationships, what will some do to prove their faith and belief system to an individual or a cause?  What drives one's devotion to the point of violence?  Is it love? A need for power?  Fear? Anger? Hatred? Manipulation? Violent Devotion seeks to uncover what drives one to extreme acts to prove their love or devotion to a person or a cause?  Who has influenced acts of extremism?  What institutions have nourished and cultivated these excessive belief systems, and why? How many acts of violence have been committed in the name of love or hate? Eligibility 1. Exhibition is open to residents 18 years or older, living in NY, NJ and PA. 2. All media will be considered and must be original and by the artist. 3. We prefer that work be hand delivered to the gallery, but will accept pre-paid shipment of work preferably through the Post Office with return packaging to and from
