A Hole Lot of Fun! Mini Golf in Bernardsville Library

Don’t let the winter blues get you down! On Saturday, February 8th, Bernardsville Library will be transformed into a mini golf course for all to enjoy. The whole community is pulling together to make this fundraiser for the Friends of the Bernardsville Library a big success. Families will be welcomed from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm; in the evening, it’s adults only from 7:00 to 10:00 pm. Save the date and get your tickets at the door! Family Day tickets are $5/person. Donuts, fruit, coffee and hot chocolate, and later hot dogs, hot pretzels, desserts, and drinks, will be offered for purchase. Adult Night tickets are $35/person for golf, food, and drinks including beer or wine. There will be international cuisine from local restaurants (Chinese, Italian, Japanese, and Mexican) plus appetizers and desserts. Tickets may be purchased in advance at the Circulation Desk only for Adult Night. The mini golf course will have 18 holes (the “19th” hole is all about refreshments). The Friends of Abraham Staats House, Inc., in conjunction with South Bound Brook Historic Preservation Advisory Commission, is proud to present its 18th edition of the award winning “Tory Jack Day” program. The annual event in honor of Black History Month celebrates the contribution and sacrifices of Afro-Americans in the foundation of our nation. This year's featured presenter is Mr. Joseph Becton. Mr. Becton, a retired National Park Service Interpretive Park Ranger, has been recognized with the Community Service award for setting a standard of excellence in interpretation and for his role in connecting Americans to our national parks through wonderful stories and varied media. Mr. Becton now directs Joe Becton Tours and Historical Services and most recently has been proclaimed a Certified Master Guide by the Association of Philadelphia Tour Guides. During this one-hour presentation, Joe will play and sing his favorite blues songs. The program will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 8, 2020 at the historic Abraham Staats House, located at 17 Von Steuben Drive, South Bound Brook, 08880. The Big Dipper guides them through a frightful but rewarding voyage. Sing along with the slaves who used the song of the Drinking Gourd to travel north on foot from Alabama to Canada. Based on Jeanette Winters’ book by the same title, this show describes the astronomy behind the slave song “Follow the Drinking Gourd.”(ages 6-12) Reservations recommended.
