Paintings by Renee Post on Display at Bernardsville Library in July Bernardsville Public Library is pleased to present "Adventures,” paintings by Renee Post, in exhibition in the Community Room during the month of July. The show will be on view from July 2 to July 30, 2019. Ms. Post, a graphic designer and retired teacher, lives in Whitehouse Station. She paints both with brushes and pallet knives, and sometimes squeezes the paint directly out of the tube onto the canvas. “To me, art is an adventure,” she says, “I experiment and explore with brushstrokes, color, texture and lighting. The exploration is always moving forward. Starting with a figure or perhaps a shape or lines, my approach to painting is expressive. Feelings, empathy, and humanity drive me to respond to the flow and viscosity of the paint. The conveyance of a feeling, a belief or questioning of the same, is paramount to my creative process. Looking at art is a dialogue between the painting and the viewer. For me, it is exciting and risk-taking, like an exploration of a different shore.” Ms. Post has been painting for 43 years. Twenty-one years ago, she began a rewarding career teaching high school students Learn More ...

“Verily, Madly Thine” at Bernardsville Library

July 23 @ 7:00 pm
NJ United States + Google Map
Free

On Tuesday, July 23 at 7:00 pm, Bernardsville Public Library, 1 Anderson Hill Road, is pleased to present “Verily, Madly Thine” by The Shrewd Mechanicals, a five actor ensemble and touring company of The Shakespeare Theatre of New Jersey. The show features a wonderful array of moments from Shakespeare’s plays as well as a few selections from more contemporary authors who have been inspired by one of Shakespeare’s originals. “Verily, Madly Thine” focuses on the special brand of temporary madness that overtakes people when they fall in love and it also features a delightful sprinkling of music. Don’t miss this wonderful show which brings to life the joy, wit, poetry, and music of the world’s greatest playwright — and those he’s inspired. The Shrewd Mechanicals is a tight-knit ensemble of five young professionals – four actors and a tour manager. Last year, the troupe presented a piece called “Shakespeare Gumbo.” It met with much acclaim in their debut season and so they are back on the road in the summer of 2019. There is no charge to attend the program; advance registration is requested at www.bernardsvillelibrary.org or call the library at 908-766-0118 to sign up.
