Bernardsville Public Library is pleased to present “From the Wild: Nature Impressed,” images by Lisa Madson, during the month of May. The show opens on May 1, and Ms. Madson will host a reception on Sunday, May 5 from 2:00 to 4:00 pm to which the public is invited. Illustrating the beauty, diversity and inter-connectedness of the natural world, Lisa Madson uses a variety of media in her work. Prominently featured is the steam transfer process called eco-dying in which leaves, ferns and other natural elements are printed using tannins, soot and ink over a steam tray. The prints are then colored and covered with an encaustic mix. Also shown are cyanotypes made using a traditional photographic process developed by the scientist John Herschel and later utilized to document botanicals by photographer Anna Atkins who is considered the first person to illustrate a book with photographic images. Other pieces included in the show utilize various other printing processes. An artist from an early age, Madson learned drawing from her mother while her father taught her geology. The works in this show reflect these early influences. Madson is a member of the international Nature Printing Society, the Frontline Arts community and Learn More ...

The Importance of Being Earnest (Theater Production) @ the Farmstead Arts Center

May 31 @ 7:30 pm - 9:00 pm
NJ United States + Google Map
$15 – $20

Join us for the Lord Stirling Theater Company's production of Oscar Wilde's most well-known play. In mocking tradition, The Importance of Being Earnest continues to delight audiences by demonstrating that what seems important is not really important, and that a keen eye and sharp wit can cut to the chase of many situations. Fast, witty language keeps the story moving against the prim and proper backdrop of the English countryside in the late 1800s. This theatre classic is a gem to lighten your spirit and bring a smile to your face. The play will be hosted in the Farmstead's beautifully restored English Barn (ca. 1750 and ca. 1840). Make sure to dress for the weather! General admission tickets are $20. Student, senior, or Farmstead member tickets are $15. Please visit Farmstead's Eventbrite page (https://www.eventbrite.com/o/farmstead-arts-850333961) to order tickets in advance. Tickets available at the door - cash only. Show times: Friday, May 31st: 7:30pm Saturday, June 1st: 7:30pm Sunday, June 2nd: 4pm Friday, June 7th: 7:30pm Saturday, June 8th: 7:30pm Sunday, June 9th: 4pm
