“Nature and Life” – Photographs by Gina Petrecca on Display at Bernardsville Library

December 2 @ 10:00 am - December 28 @ 5:00 pm
NJ United States + Google Map
Free

Bernardsville Public Library is pleased to present an exhibition of photographs by Springfield resident Gina Petrecca. The show will be on view in the Library's Community Room from December 2 to December 28. Ms. Petrecca has loved photography since she was a child when she became fascinated with preserving memories. She loves taking pictures of still lifes, landscapes, nature, and animals as well as special events, parties, and even events on a normal day. Her inspiration comes from colors, shapes, or anything different, and it changes depending on the situations she finds herself in. "Sometimes an idea pops in my head and I just do it," she says, "I feel every artist is unique and their tastes are different. I can’t fit myself in a category. I just do what I want and enjoy the uniqueness that each moment presents." This exhibition will be on view during regular library hours unless a meeting is in progress. For further information, please call the library at 908-766-0118.

Explore Colonial & Victorian Christmas Customs at Bernardsville Library Program

December 10 @ 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm
NJ United States + Google Map
Free

Decorations of holly and mistletoe, gingerbread and caroling—these are just a few of the Christmas customs that have been handed down from earlier times. On Monday, December 10 at 7:00 pm at Bernardsville Public Library, listeners will find out the similarities and differences between a Colonial Christmas and a Victorian Christmas celebration, and discover what foods were prepared and relished as part of the holiday festivities. We’ll all enjoy refreshments of those times and some of the customs too. This program will be presented by Judith Krall-Russo, a food historian and tea expert. She has enjoyed a lifelong love of foods, especially embracing the rich agriculture of her home state of New Jersey. This program is underwritten by the Friends of the Bernardsville Library. There is no charge to attend, but advance sign-up is required. Register online at www.bernardsvillelibrary.org and follow the link from Adult Programs, or call the library at 908-766-0118 to sign up.
