An Evening to Commemorate October 7 with Jessica Steinberg, "The Times of Israel" Podcast Host Moderated by Community Member Wally Yosafat In commemoration of the events of October 7, join us for a powerful evening of reflection with Jessica Steinberg, Arts and Culture Editor at The Times of Israel. Jessica will share her personal and professional journey as she shifted from covering Israel’s cultural landscape to reporting on the harrowing realities of war, documenting the lives of those who were taken, lost, or forever changed. Through articles, podcasts, and on-the-ground reporting, she has become a vital voice chronicling the human side of tragedy. Her talk will also explore how Israeli society has begun to process this trauma through creativity, highlighting recent works of art and music that respond to life in a new and uncertain reality. Please note: While this program honors the events of October 7, it is being held on September 29 out of respect for the Sukkot holiday, which falls on October 7 this year. • Voices Together: Commemorating October 7

Shimon and Sara Birnbaum Jewish Community Center 775 Talamini Rd, Bridgewater, NJ, United States

Join us for a powerful evening of song, connection, and remembrance. Voices Together: Commemorating October 7 draws inspiration from the Israeli tradition of Singing in the Square; public community sing-alongs that take place in central city squares such as Rabin Square in Tel Aviv and Safra Square in Jerusalem. While often a festive cultural tradition, Singing in the Square takes on a deeply moving and respectful tone during Israel’s national memorial days. These gatherings bring communities together through collective singing, moments of silence, and the sharing of personal stories. They create a space where generations connect, grief is held communally, and songs become a bridge between memory and hope. In that spirit, our program will feature a community sing-along with heartfelt songs in Hebrew and English, many written after October 7. These are songs of healing, resilience, and unity, songs that remind us that every voice matters. Together we will sing, listen, and stand with one another as we honor the lives lost, support those still impacted, and affirm our shared strength. This evening is not a performance but a participatory experience. Whether you know every word or none at all, you are welcome. Lyrics will be available so that
