• RVG Bluebells & Earth Day Walk

Duke Island Park Old York Rd, Bridgewater, NJ, United States

The Virginia Bluebells are in bloom at Duke Island Park! They are a native plant found in river floodplains; we’ll see the beautiful 'wild' blue popping out amongst the greenery. Duke Island Park Native Plants | Somerset County Park Commission, NJ We'll enjoy a relaxing 3-mile walk (easy pace) along the Raritan River to the Headgates Dam. The dam is proposed for removal to restore the natural confluence between the North and South Branches of the Raritan River. The removal will enhance maturation and rearing habitat for striped bass, American shad, American eel, blueback herring, and alewife. After the walk, we'll have a picnic lunch.
