Tour of Somerville: America’s oldest bike race.
This four day long event provides a ton of entertainment whether you’re an avid cyclist, a family looking for fun activities, or looking to celebrate in a Memorial Day weekend tradition in Somerset County. See what you’ve got to look forward to:
Thursday May 23:
Legal Runaround 5k: 5:00-8:00 pm – the action begins at 5:00 pm and includes a 3k Poker Walker and Kids Dash. Music, prizes, post-event fun all starts at the Somerset County Courthouse conveniently located in Downtown Somerville.
Friday, May 24
Perhaps you’ve seen these classic cars line the streets of Somerville during the summer hours? Cruise Night is back! Every Friday from Memorial Day to Labor Day from 6:00-9:00 pm.
Saturday, May 25:
Bound Brook Criterium – NJ State Criterium Championships: 9:00 am-5:00 pm – Top cyclists come to Central NJ in preparation for a weekend of racing. This is where it all begins!
Sunday, May 26:
Somerville Sprints: 6:00-9:00 pm – AN exciting night to behold! The fastest men will race down Main Street Somerville. Cyclists will hit speeds of up to 45 mph.
Monday, May 27:
Tour of Somerville ends the weekend with a day full of activities! You’ve got:
Historic Memorial Day Parade: 9:00-10:00 am – The parade begins in front of the Somerset County Courthouse and includes veterans, local schools bands, organizations, police, fire and emergency groups, and military vehicles.
Family Fun Ride: 9:45-10:15 am – The streets are closed in Downtown Somerville during this time as families will take a tour of the area for a small registration fee.
Tour of Somerville: 10:30-6:00 pm – More than 500 of the top cyclists from around the world will compete in a variety of races starting with Junior men and women, amateur races for seniors and masters, followed by the feature races in the afternoon with the professional men and women events.
