Climb to new heights at Iron Peak
Check out the climbing walls at Iron Peak! Iron Peak boasts 20 walls at their location in Hillsborough including 15 fun walls and 5 regular climbing walls measuring 25-feet each. Climbers may navigate spider web walls, an illuminated glow-in-the-dark chimney, skyscraper walls, and more. 30lb minimum. Drop-ins available or book your slot ahead of time. Looking for something a little different? Step up to the challenge of aerial ropes (above) or ninja course!
Interested in the outdoors? Fairview Farm Wildlife Preserve has miles of gentle hiking trails through fields and woods, a scenic pond, fishing dock, a colorful bird and butterfly garden, rain garden, and more and is open to the public daily from dawn to dusk. There will be programs for kids to learn about some of the area’s critters and flowers coming up so check out their calendar to find out more information.
Make friends with the alpacas
DYK: Somerset County has three alpaca farms! We love our alpaca friends and being up close with them is a gift! Check out Hidden Spring Lavender & Alpaca Farm in Skillman, Swallow Hill Farm in Hillsborough, and Bluebird Farm Alpacas in Peapack. Please note: reservations are required to walk the alpacas and visitors should check times and hours of each location before heading over to ensure they are open for the day.
Skill up at Environmental Education Center
The Environmental Education Center at Lord Stirling Park has a robust schedule of programs for kids to enjoy. From canoeing, learning about the swamp, nature walks, and their young explorers program, it isn’t hard to find something for the kids! Their schedule may be located here.
Shoot for the stars
At RVCC Planetarium kids can experience space at the college’s digital theater and learn how to find planets, enjoy themed videos to the songs of the world’s greatest hits, and more. Check out their schedule of events here!
