The rolling hills of Moorland Farm in Far Hills are home to the country’s premier steeplechase race; the Far Hills Race Meeting. On October 19th, the event will celebrate its 99th year running, with over 30,000 people expected to attend. The race, locally referred to as “The Hunt”, promises a day of equestrian feats and talents, tailgating and warm community spirit all benefiting healthcare in the region that includes Robert Wood Johnson – Barnabas Health and Cancer Support Community of Central NJ.
The event consists of seven races that average 2.5 miles in length. Each race has about ten to fourteen hurdles measuring less than three feet tall. About 65 to 70 thoroughbred horses will participate throughout the day, and the winner takes one of the richest purses in the country!
Come out and enjoy a one of a kind day of family, friends, food, horses and true New Jersey equestrian tradition.
