Morning Walk at Scherman Hoffman Wildlife Sanctuary Enjoy a quiet morning here at the Sanctuary walking the trails with an NJ Audubon staff or Associate Naturalist. These walks are informal and informative: birds, trees, tracks, wildflowers, reptiles, and amphibians are a few of nature’s wonders waiting for us to discover. The walks are cancelled if there is snow, rain, or weather warnings. Registration required by 4:00 PM the day before the walk. You must pre-register, walk-ins will not be allowed to participate. One person per ticket. COST: Free for members, $5 nonmembers. IMPORTANT INFORMATION: Please bring binoculars if you have them.

2nd Annual Scarecrow Stroll and Contest Stroll the Watchung Lake and visit the Scarecrow displays along the fencing on the Green Village! Or join in the fun by creating a scarecrow for everyone to see! The stroll will take place from October 14th - November 3rd and the contest will be held on October 20th!

The Fall festival is held weekends only, hours are 11am to 6pm last entry and wagon ride to the event field is 4:30 Will not be open on Columbus Day FYI: The tractor pulled wagon is how you get to our fall festal event field, if you do not wish to take the wagon ride and want to walk, upon admission you must ask a team member to give you a driveway pass , those without passes will not be able to gain access to the driveway. Skies Over Hogwarts Join our eclectic group of witches and wizards as they guide you through a "Harry Potter"-themed tour of the night sky. Learn how J.K. Rowling used astronomy as the inspiration for some of her characters' names.  (Recommended for ages 8 and older)

Hand Build a Gnome or Two with Burnt Mill Potters ANYONE CAN DO IT...really!   No artistic skills necessary.  (age 10 and older) Hand-build one, two or three gnomes using slabs of clay and sculpture techniques under the watchful guidance of experienced clay artists. Many design ideas are available or bring your own creativity! You will also utilize various decorative techniques, such as underglaze painting, carving and attaching 3D elements. Finished glazed pieces will be available for pick up about 4 weeks later. 5 inch gnomes are $30 each. 7 inch gnomes are $40 each. 9 inch gnomes are $50. Payment will be accepted with Venmo, Zelle or cash the day of the event.

Scare Farm at Norz Hill Farm Do you think you have what it takes to make it through Scare Farm, our haunted attractions? A Murder Is Announced The Lord Stirling Theater Company will perform the Agatha Christie murder mystery “A Murder Is Announced” in the English Barn Theater at the Farmstead Arts Center, 450 King George Road, Basking Ridge, NJ. “A Murder Is Announced” will open on Friday, October 20, at 7:30PM, with additional performances on October 21 at 7:30PM, October 22 at 2:00PM, October 27 and 28 at 7:30PM, and October 29 at 2:00PM. Tickets are $25 general admission, $23 for seniors (65 and over) and students, $20 for Farmstead Arts members, and $15 for children under 12. Tickets may be purchased online at https://farmsteadartscenter.org or at the door (cash only). Based on Agatha Christie’s 1950 novel of the same name and adapted for the stage in 1977 by Leslie Darbon, “A Murder Is Announced” takes place in the quiet, little village of Chipping Cleghorn, where the residents are astonished to read an advertisement in the local newspaper that gives the date and time a murder will take place at the home of Letitia Blacklock. Unable to resist their curiosity, a group gathers at the house at the appointed time, when the lights go out and gunshots are fired. Fright Light Laser Concert For a slightly older crowd of goblins and ghosts, this laser concert features songs including “Time Warp” from The Rocky Horror Picture Show, “Thriller” by Michael Jackson, and “The Devil Went Down to Georgia” by The Charlie Daniels Band.  (Recommended for ages 10 to adult)

  12 Angry Jurors is our next exciting production this October, at the People Care Center, 120 Finderne Ave, Bridgewater, NJ. 12 Angry Jurors is a play that contemplates the huge responsibility of 12 ordinary people as they consider the guilt or innocence of a young man accused of murder.  The 12 jurors bring their own histories, prejudices, and biases to the jury room as they work through this life-or-death decision.
