The Price of Silence: The Forgotten Story of New Jersey’s Enslaved People
In recognition of Black History Month, join for an eye-opening event as we delve into the untold history of enslaved people in New Jersey. In this two-part screening, we will view: Part 1: The Price of Silence, The Forgotten Story of New Jersey’s Enslaved People and Part 2: The Price of Silence, The Lasting Impact of Slavery in New Jersey. A discussion will follow the screening of each part with filmmaker Ridgeley Hutchinson of Truehart Productions and cast members Beverly Mills, Elaine Buck, and Kristal Langford.
This in-person event is brought to you by the Somerset County People of Color Network, the Somerset County Cultural & Heritage Commission, Truehart Productions and HomeSharing. Prepare to be moved as we shed light on a forgotten chapter of our state’s past. Don’t miss this opportunity to learn, reflect, and honor the resilience of those who endured. Mark your calendars and be a part of this important conversation.
