Russian-born and New York-based pianist Anna Keiserman, known for her creative programming, expressive freedom, and singular vision performs at the Sieminski Theater on Sunday, September 18 at 2:30pm. The program features a rich tapestry of Russian, Czech and Iberian music, ranging from the sweeping romanticism of Rachmaninoff, to the tragic folk idioms of Janá?ek and the vibrant colors of Catalan composer Jordi Cervelló (a North American premiere). The music brings the listener on a “journey” through place and time, conjuring up the shared experiences of the people, as well as the diverse landscapes and dramatic upheavals of their countries.
Known for its energetic performances and inventive programming, the Madison String Quartet “has carved a niche out for themselves by exploring Hispanic literature from both sides of the Atlantic”. (Paul Somers, Classical New Jersey) The Quartet is involved in blurring the line between performer and audience, creating a comfortable performance atmosphere for masterworks from past and present.
