The Declaration of Independence was adopted 250 years ago in 1776 but another seven years of the Revolutionary War followed until independence was affirmed with the Treaty of Paris in 1783. Visit George Washington’s Final Wartime Headquarters at Rockingham for an open house of “Endings and Beginnings” exploring documents from the start and end of the Revolutionary War including George Washington’s Farewell Orders to the Armies of the United States composed in headquarters at Rockingham.
