Arabella Barlow’s New Jersey in Story & Song – Musical Concert
Civil War heroine Arabella Barlow, a great-granddaughter of the Wallace family of Wallace House and Hardenbergh family of Old Dutch Parsonage, was born in New Jersey 200 years ago in 1824.
Historical musician and balladeer Linda Russell explores the life of rural New Jersey through the music of farmers, canal boatmen and lumberjacks, as well as the popular songs of parlor and porch.
Admission is free. Bring your own lawn chairs or blankets.
Arrive early for “Arabella Barlow’s Somerville in Street & Stone,” a walking tour Saturday, June 1, 2024, 1 p.m. beginning and ending at Wallace House & Old Dutch Parsonage State Historic Sites.
This outdoors performance of music of “parlor and porch” is the final show from our Wallace House porch before Wallace House goes under scaffolding for a major historic preservation project ahead of the 250th anniversary of Wallace House’s construction!
This program is part of a series made possible the Wallace House and Old Dutch Parsonage Association with the sponsorship of New Jersey Council for the Humanities, a state partner of the National Endowment for the Humanities.
