The Practitioners of Musick ‘resolve’ the musical ‘bands which have connected’ Scotland and America, following John Wallace from Scottish Lowlands to Somerset County through Philadelphia in this Scots Musical Celebration of the Wallace House’s 250th Birthday.

The Practitioners of Musick survey the musical riches of 17th and 18th-century Great Britain and Ireland and the Colonial and early Federal periods in America. The ensemble recently provided music for free audio tours of Crossroads of the American Revolution National Heritage Area exploring the “Retreat Across the Jerseys,” “Ten Crucial Days” and “Road to Morristown.” The Practitioners are a Proud Partner of Revolution NJ.

This program is the grand finale to a series made possible by the Wallace House and Old Dutch Parsonage Association, Proud Partner of Revolution NJ, with the sponsorship of the New Jersey Council for the Humanities, state partner of the National Endowment for the Humanities. #njhumanities

The St. Andrew’s Society of Philadelphia are special partners for the celebration of the Wallace House’s 250th Birthday. John Wallace was among the founders of the St. Andrew’s Society of Philadelphia in 1747.

250 years after Scottish emigrant and Philadelphia merchant John Wallace built the Wallace House at “Hope Farm,” the Wallace House is under construction again as part of Down the Brook: Revitalization of Wallace House & Old Dutch Parsonage State Historic Sites for Revolution NJ. The historic rehabilitation of Wallace House is being supported in part by a Semiquincentennial Grant from the Historic Preservation Fund administered by the National Park Service, U.S. Department of the Interior.
