“A Friendly Address” on the First Continental Congress

250 years ago as five delegates represented New Jersey in the First Continental Congress at Carpenters’ Hall in Philadelphia, the debate over New Jersey’s response to the Intolerable Acts continued on the Delaware River’s opposite shores.

For the 250th anniversary of the First Continental Congress in September – October of 1774, take in a close reading of passages from the papers and pamphlets under debate and discussion in New Jersey that fall ahead of the outbreak of the Revolutionary War.
