Celebrating 70 Years!
August 9, 10, 11 10am-10 pm * 4-H Fairgrounds at North Branch Park * 355 Milltown Road, Bridgewater
Many things have changed in Somerset County over 70 years, but the volunteer Somerset County 4-H Association continues to provide the Somerset County 4-H Fair. This tradition includes Free Family Fun! There are no entry or parking fees, no midway or carnival rides. The 4-H Association and over 250 other volunteers, work together to give 4-H’ers a showcase for their accomplishments and visitors a unique, wholesome experience. They do this with support from the Somerset County Freeholders and the Somerset County Park Commission, local businesses and individual sponsors,
4-H is a year round youth development program that teaches leadership, community service, and public speaking as well as project related skills such as animal science, STEM, healthy living and artistic achievement. Even as agriculture declines in NJ, 4-H’ers continue to raise and show horses, beef and dairy cows, sheep, goats, alpaca, poultry, pigs, dogs and rabbits. They are all on display in the show rings at the Somerset County 4-H Fair. To include members of other interests, there are robotics, performance and creative arts, entomology and herpetology, Go-Karts, model trains, model planes, RC cars and more. There are activities for the public, especially kids, in every tent.
All Somerset County Government departments are available to speak to the public and answer questions. Visit the Armed Services Wall of Honor in the County Tent. Inside the huge food tent there are snacks and meals prepared by 20 different non-profit organizations. Fish fry, funnel cakes and corn on the cob are just a few of the favorites. Commercial and non-profit exhibitors may not sell their wares, but many have interactive kid friendly displays and activities. Professional and amateur entertainment is continuous all three days in three different venues.
