Drawing implements can range from pencils, pens, and charcoal to brushes, crayons and markers to 3 dimensional materials such as string, as well as a stylus or touch screen and any other tool that can translate the drawing successfully onto the chosen surface. Eligibility 1. Exhibition is open to residents 18 years or older, living in NY, NJ and PA. 2. All media must be original and by the artist. 3. LIVE in Your Livingroom Virtual Author Series: The Watergate Girl -Jill Wine-Banks

December 8, 2020 @ 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm
NJ United States + Google Map
$5

Obstruction of justice, the specter of impeachment, sexism at work, shocking revelations: Jill Wine-Banks takes us inside her trial by fire as a Watergate prosecutor. It was a time, much like today, when Americans feared for the future of their democracy, and women stood up for equal treatment. At the crossroads of the Watergate scandal and the women’s movement was a young lawyer named Jill Wine Volner (as she was then known), barely thirty years old and the only woman on the team that prosecuted the highest-ranking White House officials. Called “the mini-skirted lawyer” by the press, she fought to receive the respect accorded her male counterparts?and prevailed. In The Watergate Girl, Jill Wine-Banks opens a window on this troubled time in American history. It is impossible to read about the crimes of Richard Nixon and the people around him without drawing parallels to today’s headlines. The book is also the story of a young woman who sought to make her professional mark while trapped in a failing marriage, buffeted by sexist preconceptions, and harboring secrets of her own. Her house was burgled, her phones were tapped, and even her office garbage was rifled through. At once a cautionary tale…

Stand-up Comedy show at Verve Restaurant featuring the best and brightest comedians from around the country! Jessica Kirson is a powerhouse on stage. Her countless comedic character videos have racked up over 30 million views on social media. Her audience is multigenerational creating an excuse for large groups of friends and families to spend a night out together. In an era where only 10% of all touring comedians are female, Jessica stands out as one of the strongest comedians regardless of gender. VIRTUAL: Les Délices in a Program of French Music and Dance in the Age of Louis XIV

January 9 @ 8:00 pm
NJ United States

Music in the Somerset Hills is proud to present the Cleveland-based ensemble Les Délices (The Delights) in a program of baroque music, performed on original instruments of the period. This concert brings to our repertoire an enchanting form of music we have not previously featured – music that was composed for the Royal Court of France in the century before the Revolution, during the reigns of Louis XIV and Louis XV. It was a time when French music went its own way, led by its two greatest composers, Lully and Rameau, and inspired by the glory (“la Gloire”) of the Sun King, who was himself an accomplished dancer – which is why much of the music was written for dance. Viewers at home will have the option to purchase a specially created wine and cheese board from Gary’s to complement the music of the evening. ***If you are buying bundles for multiple events, please remember to put the corresponding number of bundles in your cart. We will follow-up with you about delivery information, wine selections, and which events you will be viewing. **A link to this virtual event will be emailed to you on the day of the event. **If…

Hamilton Street Gallery has invited Christy E. O’Connor to be the guest curator for this exhibition, which describes a prevalent topic that has effected all of us. We are honored and thrilled to work with her. From religious fanaticism, to celebrity and hero worship, to personal relationships, what will some do to prove their faith and belief system to an individual or a cause?  What drives one's devotion to the point of violence?  Is it love? A need for power?  Fear? Anger? Hatred? Manipulation? Violent Devotion seeks to uncover what drives one to extreme acts to prove their love or devotion to a person or a cause?  Who has influenced acts of extremism?  What institutions have nourished and cultivated these excessive belief systems, and why? How many acts of violence have been committed in the name of love or hate? Eligibility 1. Exhibition is open to residents 18 years or older, living in NY, NJ and PA. 2. All media will be considered and must be original and by the artist. 3. We prefer that work be hand delivered to the gallery, but will accept pre-paid shipment of work preferably through the Post Office with return packaging to and from…

The company’s monumental architectural structures serve as the inspiration for the eclectic, intensely physical choreography, which explores the ways we are affected emotionally, physically, and socially by the spaces we inhabit. With bodies leaping, flying, and twirling across eye-popping, surrealistic sets, a Diavolo performance is original, awe-inspiring, and—sometimes—just a little bit dangerous.
