The Center for Contemporary Art (“The Center”) is pleased to announce its 2025 Members’ Juried Exhibition, an opportunity for members to showcase their artwork in any and all media. The variety and range of entries is a testament to the diversity and creativity of The Center’s community of artists. There are seventy-five works of art by members in painting, printmaking, charcoal, ink, graphite, pastel, fiber, photography, mixed media, ceramics, and more. This panel discussion convenes historians and preservationists to introduce the New Jersey lives of Civil War nurses Clara Barton, Cornelia Hancock and Somerville’s Arabella Barlow and considering opportunities for historic preservation and heritage tourism to share the stories of the “Jersey Girls” of the Civil War. Carolynn Ivanoff and Andrea M. Quinn study and interpret Cornelia Hancock and Arabella Barlow, nurses of the Civil War descended from families of the American Revolution at Hancock House, Wallace House & Old Dutch Parsonage State Historic Sites, enriching the traditional interpretation of the American Revolution to include the long history of New Jersey women’s contributions to the United States. Bonnie Goldman, Co-President of the Bordentown Historical Society, extends the discussion to include Clara Barton’s teaching career in New Jersey and shares progress and plans for Bordentown Historical Society’s restoration of the Clara Barton Schoolhouse. Norz Hill Farm Farmers Market In addition to its regular farm market hours, Norz Hill Farm is adding a weekly farmers market to its schedule of community-friendly events this summer. Taking place on Tuesday afternoons from 2:00 to 6:00 pm at 120 South Branch Road in Hillsborough, the market will feature wholesome foods and items from area vendors. “The purpose of the market is to offer fresh food and products to Somerset County and neighboring regions,” said Megan Norz, the farm market manager. Autocrossing has been a premier activity for the New Jersey Chapter from the beginning. If you have questions about what an autocross is or how the event is organized, please go here. Each driver will usually get at least 8 timed runs during the day. Your best time counts toward the competition. Each cone that is knocked down, or displaced from the box in which it stands, adds a 2 second penalty. The Venue: The TD Bank Ballpark lot allows courses that yield typical run times of about 45 seconds. Most drivers run the course using 2nd gear. Course map: TBA Minimum Age and License: Drivers must be at least 17 years of age and have full driver's license. Car requirements: You do not need to own or drive a BMW to participate. However, your car should be in safe condition to run at an autocross. Please consult the tech document here. Instruction: Instructors will be available to ride with you at no charge. We strongly recommend that drivers with little or no autocross experience have an instructor in the car for the first few runs. Dead Man’s Curve Custom Machines Car Club was established in 1978 by Keith Adams and Ed Stinson. There are presently 17 DMC club members, ages ranging 40 to 66, with each and every member owning multiple cars all totaling about 70+ impressive hot rods. Unique not just describes the custom machines they create, but the fact that they are also like a big family who shares the same passion for cartoon hot rods. Club members produce at least one or more hot rods each and every year. Every member has their own unique styled Street Freak hot rods, from straight axles, monstrous motors, and cartoon cars with attitudes. Cars ranging from Rat Rods to full award-winning customized show cars. Also inspired by such movies as Hot Rods to Hell, and 1960’s era TV shows such as The Munsters, Batman, The Monkees. These guys make a statement wherever they go… and leave an everlasting impression!
