Instead\, following Washington’s victories at Trenton and Princeton\, a violent “petit guerre” characterized by foraging raids\, skirmishing\, and guerilla-style warfare was waged on the plain below the Watchung mountains. \nMr. Radice will examine this period\, known as the “Forage War\,” through the personal experiences of Continentals\, Militia\, British and Hessian soldiers\, as well as civilians. DESCRIPTION:Food ‘n Fun\nFood ‘N Fun is a friendly\, food-themed event open to ALL Somerset County 4-H Clubs. Participants share their creativity by selecting a theme and planning a menu and table setting around that theme. Themes do not have to be club related. Past themes have included Disney\, Jungle\, Sports\, Harry Potter\, and Big Foot – the possibilities are endless! \nParticipating club members will each contribute a food or drink (prepared at home)\, along with the recipe if possible. Clubs will also include an attractive menu and a poster that shows how their menu selections fit into the MyPlate guidelines. \nOBJECTIVES\n1.    To give club members an opportunity for creative and artistic expression through food preparation and table setting. \n2.    To challenge youth on knowledge of basic nutrition principles. \n3.    To challenge youth in basic food preparation and safety skills when preparing and presenting food as a real-life skill. \n4.    To encourage youth to eat more fruits and vegetables\, whole grains\, lean protein\, and low-fat dairy. \n5.    To encourage youth to engage in conversation and social etiquette. \n6.    To provide youth opportunities for public speaking through explaining their dish in conversation and presentation of their meal. \n7.    To provide an opportunity for 4-H clubs to work together as a team\, learn from peers and mentors and have fun through “learning by doing”. \nLOCATION\nGymnasium at the Ted Blum 4-H Center \nREGISTRATION\nTo leave time to complete event program and reserve judges\, registration is required. What is an Irish Seisiun? \nUnlike a performance\, the musicians at a seisiun are playing for enjoyment as much for each other as for anyone who comes to listen. There are a core group of players\, and others who drop in now and then. In fact\, we never know who will show up or what instruments they will play—all completely acoustic and unamplified bringing the barn to life organically! \nUsually one person will start a tune\, and those who know it join in. Musicians play until they feel like stopping or switch tunes. The origin and spirit of this music is in playing for dancers. If Irish dancers drop by to this seisiun\, they will be welcome\, too! Feel free to make requests if you know an Irish tune. \nTo this group of musicians\, virtuosity is less valued than the collective effort.

AND on Sunday – actual St. Patrick’s Day\, we will have a St. Patrick’s Day themed buffet pretty much all day till about 7PM!!!!! We will also have Somerset County pipes and drums\, and a Face Painter for all ages\, which includes adults and children! THEN as an added surprise\, we will have the popular band DAY ONE playing from 6-9pm!!!! So\, please make sure you mark your calendars and come on out and party with us and have a great time!!
