The Virginia Bluebells are in bloom at Duke Island Park! They are a native plant found in river floodplains; we’ll see the beautiful 'wild' blue popping out amongst the greenery. Duke Island Park Native Plants | Somerset County Park Commission, NJ We'll enjoy a relaxing 3-mile walk (easy pace) along the Raritan River to the Headgates Dam. The dam is proposed for removal to restore the natural confluence between the North and South Branches of the Raritan River. The removal will enhance maturation and rearing habitat for striped bass, American shad, American eel, blueback herring, and alewife. After the walk, we'll have a picnic lunch. There's no need to skip out on the hobbies, dinners and shows that you love, now kids can be happy and occupied playing their favorite games, enjoying popcorn and cheesy pizza, climbing on our rock walls and watching a movie all in one convenient location. Explore the connections between yoga and nature in this 75-minute class. No experience necessary; all levels welcome. Please arrive 10 minutes early and bring a yoga mat. For ages 15 years and older. This workshop will be held outdoors when the weather is suitable. During inclement weather it will be held indoors. We are offering an in-person class at the sanctuary and a virtual class online simultaneously. Be sure to purchase the correct ticket. There will be no classes 4/4, 5/9, and 5/23.
