Light Opera of New Jersey brings Gilbert & Sullivan’s beloved comic operetta to life in this rollicking production. The story follows Frederic, mistakenly apprenticed to a band of aristocratic pirates, who falls for Mabel—daughter of the boisterous Major?General Stanley. A leap?year birthday loophole complicates his pursuit of love, leading to comedic chaos with pirates, policemen (complete with impressive mustaches), and a host of charming characters. The production features witty dialogue, catchy melodies—including the iconic “I Am the Very Model of a Modern Major?General”—and lively musical direction by Jason Tramm, under the direction of Nicholas Wuehrmann.
